Seller's note: I got this statue quite a few years back (10 years or so maybe) at an estate sale, I think. I know that it is definitely not ivory, because there is no grain. It's heavy, and it is carved, but it could be stone or resin, even. I am not certain of what it is, and could not determine with much internet research. I think it's quite old due to the crazing of the base varnish or finish, sometime around or before 1940's, at least, I would guess by the wood stain (deep red mahogany color) and crackling finish. To be safe, I would presume it to be resin, but I really don't know what resin looks or feels like (I know resin is some type of plastic, but this statue sounds like slate or stone when tapped). I just don't know for sure, and selling as described, and unknown.
