Reclaimed Vintage & Salvaged Goods Vintage Reclamation Point #onepieceatatime. Get Your Look

Reclamation Point Vintage is an online-only shop.  We sell antiques and vintage collectibles, reclaimed and salvaged goods, and other pre-owned merchandise.  We have no walk-in facility; most of our larger inventory is stored in our barn nearby.  We’ve been in the antiques and collectibles business since 2003, when we first started selling online at eBay.  We still sell on eBay and now, too, on Etsy, and will continue to do so as we grow our own website ecommerce.

Our name has changed a few times over the years, starting with Madem Jac’s Treasure Trash, then Eclectiques Boutique, and finally our current (and hopefully, our last) Reclamation Point Vintage, which fits nicely with what we do–reclaim old and used items from various sources and eventually bring them to market.  We appreciate the quality and value of antique and vintage goods, economically and esthetically, for purposes of investment, collecting, decorating, personal style, and nostalgia.  We love what we do–the hunt, the grunt, and the selling.

About

My Story

Reclamation Point Vintage is a compilation of my decades-long fascination with antiques and collectibles coupled with my passion for revitalizing old things, my compunction for pack-ratting, and my need to make money (hey–-a girl’s gotta eat!).

When I was young, my mom would write a list of jobs that we could do to earn money–three dollars an hour.  I used to rub linseed oil on our redwood patio furniture to preserve and protect it; it looked so beautiful when I would finish, with the color revived to a deep, burnt red.  I’d polish the silver with tarnish remover, and the wood paneling in the den and the woodwork throughout the house with Liquid Gold.  I’d shine the crystals on our fancy dining room chandelier till they sparkled with rainbows.  (Little did I know at that time that I was amid iconic Mid Century Hollywood Regency style all throughout our house.)

In my early teens, I was refinishing antique furniture in our basement under mom’s guiding hand and watchful eye–for one, since I was working with an extremely toxic chemical stripper, and for the other, so I didn’t ruin the floor while I was at it.  And, as I prepared to go off to college, I took our old, grungy electric can opener that she’d given me and spent a few hours at the kitchen counter giving it a thorough detailing, using toothpicks, an old toothbrush, and patience–I got it looking like new again.  (To this day, my mom still brings up this story with a condescending cluck!)

These early years in my life taught me to appreciate the value of proper care and maintenance of our household goods, and fixtures, as well as ways and means to revitalize old castaways with a little tender loving care, and (sometimes) a lot of elbow grease.  I admire the quality of materials and workmanship inherent in vintage items–qualities that are basically either cost-prohibitive or non-existent in today’s products–like real wood and real leather, sturdy metals and brass zippers, organic fabrics like wool and cotton and linen, and attention to details…as compared to the throw-away stuff made in today’s industries…I mean, who wouldn’t?  So, nowadays, I go looking for old treasures and castaway lots, sometimes in the darndest places, too–on the side of the road, at the bottom of a dumpster (my brother owns a dumpster company), in barns, at flea markets, sales, and auctions.  I haul them home, scrub them down, and polish them up (sometimes for myself, and sometimes for market) for a brand, new life–I RECLAIM them.  And THAT is the story of Reclamation Point Vintage!  The End
