Very large antique oil painting on board, unsigned, and attributed to the Hudson River School style, probably dating to the mid-1800's to early 1900's
Early American scenic painting of typical Hudson River School subject matter, depicting a lone log cabin in the woods, alongside a mountain river, dock with boat, waterfall in the background, the light and shadow effect appearing to be at early dawn, or late winter afternoon
Darkened aged patina, and yellowing from aged varnish
This is an antique oil painting, quite large in size, measuring 48" wide by 35" high, in period frame
The frame is gold-painted, and if one looks closely, it appears that there is gold paint around the edges of the oil painting, so frame may have been repainted; the wood appliqued antique frame has some losses of decoration, as can be seen in the pictures
The painting has cracking and crazing throughout, and has been varnished over, either originally, or as a preservation attempt later, to seal the artwork
I was unable to find a signature on the front or back of the piece, though I have not removed from frame

Condition:
Antique oil painting in good condition with signs of age and use. The frame is gold-painted, and it appears that there is gold paint around the edges of the oil painting, so frame may have been repainted; the wood appliqued antique frame has some losses of decoration, as can be seen in the pictures. The painting has cracking and crazing throughout, and has been varnished over, either originally, or as a preservation attempt later, to seal the artwork. Corner damage and losses, as shown.
